Digital Photography
ART265 Digital Photography is a required class for Visual Communications program students. It is an elective class for all other programs.
Required Course Materials
* Digital Single Lens Reflex (SLR) Camera and Lens
o the minimum required camera for the course is a digital SLR with 8 MegaPixels or more.
o a 3x zoom lens (most digital SLRs include a 18-55mm or comparable focal length lens)
* 2 Gb memory card
* Memory card reader
* 50 sheet pkg of Epson Ultra Premium Luster inkjet paper
* Tripod (highly recommended)
What Digital Camera should you choose?
There are a wide range of camera features available which can make it confusing as to which camera to purchase. We can not recommend camera manufacturers, nor retailers. However, students taking the class have successfully used Canon or Nikon digital SLRs cameras.
Two excellent web sites to compare digital cameras are;
* Digital Camera Review
http://www.dpreview.com/
* Steve’s Digicams
http://www.steves-digicams.com/
The instructor will cover important features of digital cameras the first class meeting of ART265. A digital camera is not required the first week, but is required by the first class meeting of the second week.
