The Exquisite Still Life

Monday, October 6- Friday, October 31
Reception: Wednesday, October 8, noon-2
Lisa Caballero, Dan P. Carr, Bobbie Jansen and John Van Dreal.

Lisa Caballero’s oil paintings capture the things we eat now, like cupcakes and donuts, with a mastery reminiscent of Velasquez. Dan P. Carr’s careful observation of color enlivens his small-scale, single-object paintings and his blog entries about them. Bobbie Jansen paints startling narrative juxtapositions of objects with a fluid handling of light, color and form in the tradition of Manet. Stylistically influenced by Nothern European masters, John Van Dreal brings iconography, symbolism–and sometimes a figure–to his rendered, still life paintings.
